#1: Liberty Tree Tavern in Magic Kingdom

This is most likely a no brainer for anyone who has ever visited Walt Disney World and eaten at this Liberty Square staple. It’s “Thanksgiving” every night at dinner when you are served family style all the traditional fixings. Turkey, Pork, Roast Beef, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberry sauce, delicious rolls, salad in an addictive vinaigrette, stuffing and a seasonal vegetable. Save room for easily the best dessert on Disney property the “Ooey, Gooey Toffee Cake”. This warm, almost cookie like cake is served in an “iron” skillet with a hearty scoop of vanilla ice cream. Although the holidays are a time for sharing and commaraderie, you will be fighting over every last bite of this dish! Liberty Tree Tavern will be open for both Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner.

#2: Whispering  Canyon in Disney’s Wilderness Lodge

Situated in my favorite resort on property, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge ,Whispering Canyon is going to be a Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner like you’ve never experienced before. For starters, the servers will feel like family the moment you sit down. The atmosphere is laid back and hospitable. The landscape of the resort is that of a cozy, Northeastern lodge complete with a stone fireplace to cozy up to. Your meal will be served family style, just as you’d want it served in your own home. Dig into turkey, ham, beef strip loin. stuffing, gravy, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce and cornbread. (Ask them for ketchup, just for fun…trust us.) A really lovely way to travel to Wilderness Lodge from the Magic Kingdom is via boat. It’s a relaxing, serene way to take in the sights of beautiful Bay Lake and count your blessings.

#3: Ale & Compass in Disney’s Yacht Club Resort

Ale and Compass is a relatively new restaurant in Disney’s Yacht Club resort and is quickly gaining popularity in part to it’s relaxed atmosphere and delicious New England inspired menu. For both Christmas and Thanksgiving, Ale & Compass will be serving both brunch and dinner. Your holiday meal is also the perfect time to soak in the beautiful holiday decorations adorning the resort. You’ll feel like you’ve just stepped into a lovely Norman Rockwell holiday painting…with a happy holiday belly.

#4: Wine Bar George in Disney Springs

Wine Bar George is new and hot on the scene in Disney. It’s a famed wine bar which boasts an astounding 140 choices available for wine enthusiasts. Enjoy a glass of their holiday favorite mulled wine while you spend your Christmas Eve dinner feasting on succulent prime rib, potatoes au gratin (which if you’ve never had, they are worth the trip) and roasted asparagus. The atmosphere is relaxed and yet still manages to make you feel like you’re having a festive dinner in an upscale, trendy, city winery.

#5: Biergarten in Epcot’s World Showcase

This may seem like an odd choice for folks not of German descent. It’s “Thanksgiving” (also open for Christmas) why am I going to have dinner in “Germany?” For starters, if you’ve never been, the setting is that of an idyllic German Biergarten. The lights are dim, there’s greenery and trees surrounding the hall. There’s live music and warm hospitality of your German hosts. German food itself if you’ve never had it is very straightforward. Although the names may sound harsh and off putting, the food itself is delicious, even to the pickiest of palettes. Meats are cooked to fork tender perfection, herbs that are used are mild and not overpowering and there is truly something to suit everyone. Think tender meats, succulent gravies, potatoes, salads and you have a holiday meal similar to what you loved as a kid, but so unique that you are likely to never forget your Thanksgiving in “Germany.”
